I love animals and that love is captured when I create a painting, a sculpture, or a pillow of an animal. I have loved animals since I was a little girl with my first Scotty. Since that time I have had several dogs, numerous cats, 2 guinea pigs and for several years an iguana, that with my loving care grew to be 5 feet from nose to tail. Presently I have and care for 11 cats. I am very active with cat rescue and have found many homes for homeless animals. My official education includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts from St. John’s University – class of 1976, and a Masters of Fine Arts with a major in painting from Pratt Institute – class of 1978. I was a high school art teacher until my first daughter arrived. Wanting to be a full-time Mom first and foremost, I started my own freelance business creating portraits and paintings. With the arrival of my second daughter the freelance business was an excellent way to develop my painting skills while caring for my family and pets. Over the last several years I have started to paint pet portraits on more things than paper or canvas. I have painted people’s pets on t-shirts, jackets and even handbags. All of them are met with a phenomenal response of disbelief, as I was able to capture the “essence” of one’s pet. When I started creating them as pillows my daughters felt I was onto something wonderful. Now with my oldest in graduate school and my baby starting college I have the time to expand this wonderful business. If you know someone who loves their special pet then a 3D Pet Portrait is the greatest gift you can give them. |
